A very special Japanese Maple - Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium' is known as the 'Dancing Peacock' maple This is a name well deserved because of the wonderful color of the leaves in the fall.  Aconitifolium is a green leaf maple that is simply outstanding - not just the colors which range from yellow to orange to crimson and then purple, but the leaves themselves which are multi-layered and shaped like the rounded top of a peacock feather.

Also known as the fern maple it can grow to 15' tall and wide'. A mature specimen is next to the Tea House at the famous Japanese Garden of Portland, OR. Which is widely acclaimed as the most authentic Japanese Garden outside of Japan.

Aconitifolium is a moderate growing maple, but as it ages the branches become very stiff and we are unable to ship larger specimens. Therefore,  the 3 gallon size will not be offered.  Once established this maple is hardy to -20 degrees - USDA zone 5.

Limited availability - 2 gallon size will be available in April/May 2019.
