The photo on the left is the Aureum in our display garden and on the right is the same maple showing fall color. The third photo is a one gallon Aureum.
The common name for this cultivar is 'Golden Full Moon Maple' an older cultivar in the same genus as the Autumn Moon Maple [Acer shirasawanum Autumn Moon]
A small to medium sized tree with wonderful color throughout the growing season. The new growth is an exquisite lime green. Summer color is a golden lime green with a tinge of red along the edges of each leaf. The Golden Full Moon Maple is a spectacular tree.
Recommended sun exposure is in the morning with some shade protection in the hot afternoon sun. Fall colors are some of the best for any Japanese Maple ranging from gold to orange to red often on each individual leaf.
This cultivar is highly desired for a smaller partial shade garden. Placement in either a Northern or Eastern location would be best. It is an extremely slow grower which may reach 8' in 15 years. Once established hardy to USDA Zone 5.

A small to medium sized tree with wonderful color throughout the growing season. The new growth ranges in color from yellow to dark orange. Summer color tones similarly are shades of lemon green, gold, salmon and orange.

Prefers morning sun with some protection from hot afternoon sun. Estimated height in 10 years is 7'. Once established hardy to USDA zone 5. A must for a Japanese Maple collector. The photo shows the beginning of fantastic fall color. The leaves will evolve to a deeper crimson -scarlet red. One of the best maples for fall color!
Red Dawn is a new shirasawanum cultivar from Talon Buchholz in Gaston, Oregon. As the name implies this is a red leaf shirasawanum cultivar though summer color is more of a purple green. The fall color is the reason for the name - it is an electric crimson red.
Red Dawn has a lovely shape and growth habit not too big and more like a tree than a bush. Height in 10 years 9' with a 4' spread. This cultivar can handle full sun to partial shade and is a perfect maple for a small sunny garden as the centerpiece. Once established hardy to USDA zone 5.

Jordan is a relatively new maple that provides an alternative to the 'Golden Full Moon Maple' - Aureum. Jordan is faster growing than Aureum and can handle more sun without burning as Aureum would.
A small to medium sized tree with wonderful color throughout the growing season. The new growth is a little more of a lemon color than Aureum. Summer color is a golden lemon lime green. Fall colors are exquisite from yellow to gold, orange and red.
This cultivar is highly desired because of the rapid growth and yellow green new growth. Jordan may reach 8' tall and 4' wide in 8 years. Once established hardy to USDA Zone 6.
